Enrichment
Enrichment groups for reading and math are offered to every student who earns a 90% or higher on the reading and/or math MAP tests and is approved by the classroom teacher. In reading enrichment we work on higher level questions on higher reading material, greek and latin roots, book study discussions, and other activities that challenge the students. In math enrichment we work on higher math skills, logic problem puzzles, tricks and interesting facts about math, and other activities that will challenge the mathematical gifted student. I have absolutely loved working with these students as they constantly raise to every challenge that I give them.
Mrs. Karen Young
My name is Karen Young and I feel truly blessed to be hired as the full time resource and enrichment teacher at St. Peter Lutheran School. I have over 30 years of teaching experience for children ages 3-22 with a wide range of disabilities. I live with my husband of 35 years and have 3 adult children, and 2 grandsons that all live out of state. I've been an active member at Trinity Lutheran in Lisle for over 30 years. I loved joining my expertise of teaching children with disabilities with my Lutheran faith and ministry! I'm also excited to have the privilege of teaching enrichment for grades 1-5! It is truly wonderful to work with the great students, parents and staff here at St. Peter. After retiring from special education teaching in the public schools, I’m excited to start this new chapter of using my gifts of teaching and ministry as a teacher at St. Peter Lutheran School.
